Coming back from my wicked ways...

Above pics are every 4 weeks since May 2, 2008 through mid November 2008, then skipping to Jan 3, 2009 for the last pic.
The holidays kicked my butt. I regained 15 lbs and put myself back into the obese category by 5 lbs. Binge binge binge. Quoting my fiance: "well, to be honest you did kinda destroy that bag of cheese curls."
I know a lot of it was emotional eating from getting fired on Nov. 21 and the financial pressures involved in that, combined with the availability of holiday food...so, I'm working on it.

To get back on track, I took new before pictures that are more brutally honest to keep me accountable. I've also gotten back on Sparkpeople to track my food and have joined the January boot camp challenge to get myself exercising again. I'm desperate to take off these 15 lbs ASAP so I can get back to hitting new milestones.

back on track! Day 1 I successfully
-tracked all my food
-stayed under 1250 calories
-exercised 45 minutes and did some resistance exercises (16 of it running at 5.5 mph)
-drank 8 cups of water and 6 cups of sugar free kool aid
-made and posted new before pics
-bravely went to the gym in leggings

Weigh in again and workout

So, I got on the scale today and saw a number about 3 lbs higher than it was the past 4 days. Not great when I have been wanting to show at least a 3 lb weight loss so that the folks at the center believe I'm following the diet. Discouraging. Thought about scheduling for a weigh in on a different day.
On the plus side, my family is noticing the weight loss a lot recently. Even my boyfriend noticed that I've lost a lot off the stomach.
So, worried about my weight (like that's new) I proceeded to the gym. I did my normal 1/2 hour workout at a bit higher intensity than usual, and started the weight routine I was given at orientation. I'll be a good little exerciser, not counting my lawn mowing and such as I have been before. Then we'll see what happens with weigh in next week.
At weigh in, I was back down to about the weight I'd been the previous 3 days, or down almost 3 lbs for the week. That I can deal with. The fact that some pants that fit fine 2 days ago were tight today...well, grr. Other crazy things going on in my life? Grr. Double Grr.

Also, got offered a job out of town today. I think I will take it, and will commute. Hopefully this won't interfere with attending the weekly meetings. If it does, then Grr.

Send the WOOSH fairy, please!

On the liquid diet discussion boards, there is a mythical being called the Woosh Fairy. She comes to you while you are sleeping, and takes away a few pounds, so that you suddenly see a big drop. I would like her to visit tonight, please. Last week at my weigh-in, despite it being one day later than usual, I only showed a two and a half pound loss. I very much would like to show a 4 pound loss tomorrow, just to be able to prove that I'm still in it and not really cheating. Ok, so yesterday I had 4 pickle slices. That really should not be considered a big scary cheat, I say. Thing is, at my morning weigh-ins, I've been bouncing on the same pound to pound and a half for 4 days, meaning only 2 days of loss this week. Better than no loss, but right now, with how this scale varies from the one at the center, I'm thinking my loss will be mayyybe 2 pounds, 3 at the most. Still a decrease, but little enough to look like I'm not doing things right. I also didn't do much exercise this week...soooo....yeah....maybe I need to kick that up. And maybe 4 pickles is too much for some reason. I will say it sent me to the bathroom urgently within an hour.
So, all that said, to lure the WOOSH fairy, today I will:
- not eat even one pickle slice
- drink at least 10 cups of water
- take a shower (ok, this is just trying to motivate me to get going cause I feel lazy today)
- take a 30 minute brisk walk even if I do mow the lawn, too

Weigh-In

Weigh in was Tuesday this week because of the holiday. Well, weighing in earlier in the day I was hoping to show more of a loss. I wore stretch pants (jeans last 2 weeks) and didn't even have my shake before the meeting, just coffee and some water. Forgot to take my shoes off like I do for most weigh-ins. Down 2.4 lbs for the week, officially, which is a bit sad because the scale at home showed down 4 lbs. Darn you, coffee and shoes! I guess I just wanted the official record to say, SEE? I didn't cheat at the party! It was torture, but I didn't.
Instead, I had
5 sticks sugarfree gum
1 pickle slice
1/2 cup sugarfree Jello
1 flavor pack (crystal light type)
2 splendas in my coffee.
...plus the 4 shakes. What's sad (or happy?) is that this is what now constitutes a binge day for me.

So, now I'm hoping next week's weigh in to mark one month on the plan will be a big one. I am going to make sure that the exercise I get this week is aerobic and planned, and not just activity. I did decide not to add in weights yet, because I want to see how my body handles the aerobic exercise first. I did 1/2 hour at the gym today, per plan, and did not get extra hungry or lightheaded, so that's a good sign. We'll see what the planned working out does for the weight loss and body fat this week.

Day 12--1st day of exercise

I got oriented to the fitness center today, which is included in my fees (well, they call it free, but it's not so free when I'm giving the program altogether over $100 a week). I'm to start out at mild to moderate exercise for 3 days a week, 30 minutes. No weights yet, so I don't shock my body. I think it's already shocked that it's lighter and not eating candy! Did my first workout. 10 mins treadmill at 2.5-3.5 mph, 10 mins arc trainer at HR 155 or so, 10 mins elliptical at HR 165 or so.

I mentioned that I get migraines after intense workouts, and the trainer said that her boyfriend always did, until he got put on a low dose of a blood pressure medication. No migraines would be FABULOUS.

Have I mentioned that I'm still migraine free?? YAAAAY!
